About me.

In this blog is some work from my second year at Runshaw College. They are mostly pieces from a graphics project which was titled 'fairytale’s.
I have also attached some photos that I have taken in my photography lessons and in my own time. This work has no observational drawings with it however I have plenty in my sketch book.

I have always loved Art & Design however I didn't really know what area I wanted to go into until I started my Btec at Runshaw College. I really enjoy my Graphic lessons as I've always liked how creative you can be within the subject. At Runshaw I got to go to The Chase in Preston, to do some work experience. The work experience allowed me to talk to the designers, do live briefs and get a feel for the work place. This made me want to pursue my ambition to become a Graphic Designer even more. My other favourite subject is Photography which I also do in my spare time; I currently have a Nikon D90 and love using my own photos in my graphical pieces. I am interested in this programme at Manchester Metropolitan University as I know it will be fun, challenging and also beneficial.

Lady Gaga Vector

I created this Vector using Adobe Illustrator, i used the pen tool to create a picture of Lady Gaga for a CD cover. In doing this i have become more confident at using the pen tool.

Poster Development.

This is development work for my poster design. It shows the two images i used. One is a drawing of the Harris museum that i drew using a fine liner pen, I then scanned the drawing into photoshop to enable me to add my characters on. The second image is two of my own photographs that I have merged together to make the background image on the poster.

Mad Hatter Development

Developmental work for my pointalism piece of the Mad Hatter

Red Squirrel

This picture was taken at Centre Parcs i used a 70-300mm lense. To achieve this image i had to lie on the floor to get a more interesting angle of the squirrel.

Little Red Riding Hood Storyboard

This is the second final piece from my 'fairytale' brief. It is a story board, i recreated the story of Little Red Riding Hood. I asked my sister to model for me then went out and took the pictures for my story board on my Nikon D90. I then loaded them into photoshop edited the pictures and added the wolf into the images from Adobe Illustrator.

Cockerham Sands

Here is a photograph that i took in my spare time at Cockerham Sands. I took it with my Nikon D40 and then edited it photoshop by brightening the photo and changing the contrast.

The House Of Fairytales

This was one of my final pieces for the 'fairytale' brief. It is inspired by The House of Fairytales website. On the poster I made my own characters and added some primary images taken from The House of Fairytale exhibition at the Harris museum.

Red Riding Hood Layout

Here is a single spread page layout for a magazine of the story of Little Red Riding Hood inspired by David Carson.

Mad Hatter

My Mad Hatter piece was created in Photoshop. I used a small and a large grid to make this pointalism piece. I did lots of research into pointalism painters incuding George Seurat before designing and creating this piece of work. I chose the Mad Hatter theme as my brief was 'fairytales' and i find his character to be vivid and exciting.

Octagon Building

This piece is a photo joiner of the Octagon building at Runshaw College, it was taken in my photography lesson. The photo is inspired by the works of David Hockey as he takes many pictures similar to this, i was trying to recreate his work but on a smaller scale. Previous to this piece i took two smaller joiners with less pictures, but found that they were not as effective as using a larger number of pictures. To create the joiner i used photoshop to arrange the images.
